A fund-raising campaign was run for raising money for the treatment of 3 year old Ira Mehta's brain tumour. Just within 2 days of starting the campaign, the required funds have been raised. Ira's family would like to thank all the well-wishers for their contribution and for helping spread the word around.
Please communicate in your network that the fund-raising campaign has now ended and there is no further requirement of funds. But do keep praying for Ira's speedy recovery.

Ira's Recovery:
Update#1
9th June - Day 40:
- The infection in the CFS is reducing but not yet fully gone.
- A CT Scan was performed today morning. It showed that hydrocephalus had caused swelling. Therefore, a small surgical procedure was performed to resolve the situation wherein a reservoir (omaya) was inserted in her 4th ventricle.
- Her responsiveness is improving slowly.
Happy update - Today's operative procedure was done while she was sedated and it did not require her to be put on the ventilator.
Ira's Recovery:
Update#2
10th June - Day 41:
- The infection in the CFS has reduced further. However the blood report suggests another infection. Antibiotics for the same would be decided after the culture sensitivity report comes on Monday.
- The excess CSF created due to hydrocephalus is being drained/aspirated through the reservoirs and the situation is kept under control.
- Her responsiveness is same as yesterday.
Ira's Recovery:
Update#3
11th June - Day 42:
- The infection in the CFS continues to reduce.
- Test for urine infection came back negative. There's no chest infection either.
- Hydrocephalus remains under control.
- Her responsiveness is same as yesterday.
Ira's Recovery:
Update#4
13th June - Day 44:
- No major change in condition since update no. 3
- Responsiveness has marginally improved.
- Slightly more easeful limb movements.
Happy update - few drops of pomegranate juice & lime water given orally.
Ira's Recovery:
Update#5
16th June - Day 47:
- The infection had become resistant to the antibiotic and was not reducing. The antibiotic has been changed and we are hoping for the infection to go away till Sunday.
- Hydrocephalus has remained under control.
- Responsiveness has improved slightly.
Happy update - she seems to be trying to respond when she is shown home videos.
Ira's Recovery:
Update#6
17th June - Day 48:
- The infection seems to be responding to the new antibiotic.
- Hydrocephalus is very much under control.
- Improvement in responsiveness.
Happy update - big vocal response - Ira screamed when a bandage was being removed.
Another Happy Update - Ira turned onto one side all by her own.
Ira's Recovery:
Update#7
20th June - Day 51:
- The infection is done to almost 10%.
- A small surgery called VP Shunting would be done in a couple of days to keep Hydrocephalus under control.
- Slight improvement in responsiveness.
Happy update - Ira is doing a lot of body movements now. Though these also include some persistently continous limb movements that seem a bit worrisome, this much movement is suggestive of a faster recovery of mobility.
