Towards a better and clean Coimbatore!!!

In our journey towards making the city of Coimbatore agriculturally rich and clean, we need your financial assistance for the use of machineries and equipment involved in the cleansing process.

In order to have access to clean and safe water, pollution-free environment is the basic need. Thamizha foundation and KKPA (Kovai Kulangal Pathukappu Amaippu) is a movement initiated by the youngsters in the month of February 2017. Both the team had the same ideology and so they decided to work along with the support of general public decided to save the water bodies of Coimbatore for agriculture and to provide better livelihood for the current and future generation.

Improper waste disposal and ineffective wastewater treatment has made the lakes in and around the city completely unusable. The poisonous weeds and plastic wastes have to be removed from the lakes to restore the water bodies so that they can be made reusable for agriculture. The volunteers of KKPA (Kovai Kulangal Pathugappu Amaippu) and Thamizha Foundation are actively involved in removing the plastic waste and poisonous weeds. Until now, uprooting of weeds and plastic waste disposal in the Perur Periya Kulam Lake, Perur Selva Chintamani Lake and Vellalore Lake were efficiently completed by the team. Chronology of the Sunday activities:

• Every Sunday 300 to 400 volunteers and common public across the districts of Coimbatore gather together and they start the cleaning activity as a team in the canals, ponds and lakes. Even kids come along with their parents to support this cause.

Future activities:
Cleaning activity at the Kuniyamuthur Check dam at a stretch of 12.5 kmCleaning the

Chithiraichavadi Check Dam which provides for water flow to Pudhukulam, Kolarampathy, Narasimapathy, Krishnampathy, Selvanpathy, Selva Chinthamani, Kumarasamypuram.

Campaign money will be used as

• Kuniyamuthur Check dam- Rs.11 lakhs
• STUCCO plastering at Vellalore Rajavaaikal- Rs. 7 lakhs
• Chithiraichavadi Check dam – Rs.2.5 lakh
• Sengulam Lake Cleaning - 4.5 Lakh
