HELP US FEED CHILDREN WHO ARE SUFFERING DURING LOCKDOWN

As India is struggling to contain the rapid spread of COVID19, many states have announced the lockdown resulting in a complete shutdown of shops, companies, etc. Amid the lockdown, many people have lost their jobs and only source of income. Daily wage earners are struggling to get even one time of food.

Hunger is a major issue India is facing during the pandemic period. For the underprivileged, unemployment, losing the only source of income, depression, etc., has become a major concern.

Anna Nagar is one of the Tribal villages, located in Thirukandalam Panchayat, Thiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu State. The community belongs to Schedule Tribe (ST) and their daily wages depending on working in rice mill, plucking flowers, and other kinds of daily wage labors always depending on their income to survive themselves.   

The pandemic has badly affected the children, 110 children are studying in primary school and 60 children are in higher secondary schools. There are around 40 children in special schools who are dropouts of school. Most of the children mainly depending on school mid-day meals for their daily food. Now, there is no school amid lockdown, these underprivileged children are feeling the heat. Many are going to bed without a meal.

These 210 children who live in the community are aged between 3 to 18. Their parents don’t have proper income. Aldu Foundation is supporting these children to get at least one meal like lunch. But to feed them throughout the lockdown is a big task as we have not enough resources and funds available.

The funds donated via this campaign will help us feed these children. We at Aldu Foundation are looking for funds to feed at least one meal a day.
