Ananda Vanam is  non-profit wholeness centre and a healing forest. Here one can rest, reconnect, tune, learn, realign, rejuvenate, experience and evolve the inner & outer nature !

We are creating :

Where ?

This special land is  bound by fresh water streams in the lush mountains of Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, India. 

The land is at 1250 mtr. elevation with lovely weather (avg.18-25°c) with rich flora and wild fauna. 

This mountain has been the abode of siddhas like Bogar who built an herbal alchemy temple at Palani.

Currently it is home to many organic farms & international communities.


How ?  

We have put all our savings, skills and efforts to buy this magical land and building basic infrastructure.
We have renovated an old hut into cosy livable space by adding bathroom, kitchen-dining & filler slab roof.
We have started rejuvenating the land with swales, gabions, bunds, ponds, mulching, companion plant guilds, herbal gardens,...

Who ? 

Ananda is the founder and primary caretaker of Ananda Vanam. He feels gifted to find this special land after long search. He has put all his heart, soul, savings and skills into buying, designing and developing the land & infrastructure.

He is a yogi, meditator and a healer living with the essence of love and freedom in and out.

His retreats & training programs works with dimensions of body, mind, emotions, energy & spirit using transforming  tools of Yoga, Tantra & Inner Science.

Over 24 years he has been evolving the mystery of life with hatha yoga, vigyana bhairav tantra, zen, bauls, inner science and he is professionally trained with various ancient and modern forms of healing.
 
Ananda has a masters degree in Computers and worked as a Software Architect for 12 years in multinational companies. He left that profession 10 years back for simple living and heartful sharing.
 
Ananda feels grateful to  all  the inspiring-guiding-nourishing teachers, masters, angels, siddhas, buddhas, energy fields & to the mystery of life itself !

After months of hibernation and haze, rays of hope is  reviving with resilience ?

We did successful resurvey of the land and reaffirm the legal boundaries ??
We are attempting amicable solution through well wishing friends and lawyers??
Framing of roof  and procuring roofing tiles  are happening slowly after long pause ??

Life brings storms with heavy rains over last 1 month and also challenging situation with neighbour ?????

Update #12    Integrating ANTIQUE and MODERN

My life has been essentially a journey of integrating seemingly opposites …

Inner-outer, human-divine, intellect-intuition, information technology- inner technology, freedom-love, comfort-wild, …


Currently integrating Antique and Modern materials for constructing a nice hall in this lovely healing forest !


Antique wood is well seasoned, stronger, aromatic, aesthetically designed with grandeur  than fast grown, fast made, simplistic contemporary wood !


Modern terracotta bricks are porous, lighter (~50% less), thermal insulating, sound insulating, bigger (1≅9 normal bricks) and smoother without need of plastering !


Some are attached to Antique for its glorious past & deeper grandeur, 

some are averse to its outdated expiry & stories associated…


Some are attached to Modern for its fresh & evolutionary intelligence, 

some are averse to its fast paced, immaturity …

With local monsoon planting season starting (Aadi Perukku), 

we are gifted to have permaculture designer-gardener expert Harshita ( Kintsugi - Regenerating Ecosystems ) collaborating to design, educate, plant, nourish local ecosystems and lovely gardens in our healing forest ????

On Sunday lockdown day, we are blissfully busy setting up banana circle compost pits, circular herbal garden, lime white wash on walls, … ??
Lovely that friends visiting from nearby communities Om (bamboo house maker, musician from France), Calvin (musician, cycle traveller from Delhi) and Mo (permaculture and life gardener from Chile) are helping weekly once in  gardening along with inhouse volunteers Deepa (Zero waste warrior from Delhi) and Isha (tea ceremony master from Auroville) ??????

Gratitude for much needed timely financial support far away from Jayanthi (classmate from US) ?1L ($1400),  Ganesan (batchmate from India) ?18k ($250), Dawid (polish mate) ?10k ($140) ????
Funding so far will help to make water proof flooring on open roof to fix heavy water leakage in these mountain rains ???

While south india is having peak of soaring summer heat, on the mountain we are dancing with the fresh cool summer rains and flooding waterfalls ….
While India is locking down more with rising covid, masks, vaccination,…
we are enjoying the healthy natural living without masks …
While  lack of funding stopped construction, we are gifted to have some angels already starting to volunteer with good will in spite of incomplete setup


Deepa from Delhi (came cycling all the way from Delhi to Auroville without money and phone as sadhana process) is sharing education to nearby village children and promoting zero waste and gift economy. 
Isha from Auroville takes care of garden, shares tea ceremony, high vibrational food and sound healing !
Mo from Chile is designing permaculture layout and shares empowering education in nearby farm.

Being a conduit in creating a wholeness centre on the mountain farm comes with blessings and challenges !
This project drives me deeper to study architecture, technologies, people skills, … much demanding than my past lives being university topper and computer software architect … !

Blessings are joy of creating and developing evolutionary eco friendly design without disturbing existing structure/ trees, appreciation and reuse of antique wood and designs, finding work arounds with challenges… ??
Challenges are rock bottom financials, dealing with labourers without ethical / commitments, delays, challenging neighbours, …

In spite of all these  feeling blessed for completion current phase of making a liveable space with toilet, kitchen, …???
