VISHNUGUPTA VISHWA VIDYAPEETHA - TAKSHASHILA REBORN
The project aims to provide the essence of Bharatiya knowledge to all seekers of knowledge, irrespective of their caste, creed or gender.

Did you know? There was a time when Samaveda, which is one among the four Vedas, had over a thousand branches! One branch of knowledge with a thousand streams! Hundreds of such branches of learning existed in this land! But sadly, this belongs to bygone ages; the picture today is pathetic. The story is the same everywhere about the rich Bharatiya heritage of knowledge. They are on the path of distortion and destruction.

Outsiders, who ruled us for centuries, neglected our traditional education system; they forced their ‘non-knowledge’ on us. None from us grew to become proud children befitting the might of our parents; our people who neither had any knowledge nor any pride about our heritage threw the nectar-like knowledge bestowed on us by our ancestors and imbibed the insipid and slavish culture and values of outsiders in the name of modern education. The result – our golden treasure became their property and the outsider’s trash began to adorn the pride of place in our seat of worship!

However, crying on the spilt milk doesn’t make any sense; crying doesn’t make any difference. Times have come to such a pass that no one cares if one cries or even dies for our heritage or knowledge! We have to protect our nation and religion. Even at the cost of our sweat and blood, we have to preserve our rich culture.

The project is located at Ashoke, a place sanctified by the holy footprints of Sri Adi Shankaracharya and is in the proximity of Sri Gokarna Mahabaleshwar Temple. Present pontiff of Sri Ramachandrapura Matha, Sri Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Mahaswamiji is well-known for His keen interest in protecting and preserving Bharatiya breed of cows. His Holiness has undertaken this project to protect, preserve and propagate ancient branches of Bharatiya learning and arts. The effort is to preserve what is left of this great heritage and try to rebuild and revive what is possible. The project is aptly named after Vishnugupta Chanakya, who was its treasured student and also one of the most well-known teacher of the vishwa Vidyapeetha. On completion, this Vishwa Vidyapeetha will resemble what was lost to humanity centuries ago!

Building the necessary infrastructure for the project would require a huge sum of wealth and it is expected that the charitable people of Bharat, who are keen to preserve our rich heritage, would join hands to make this a reality. A good portion of the proposed infrastructure is ready and was dedicated on 26 April 2020 in the form of a main administrative building, named Bharati Bhavana. Another structure not far away is a multipurpose building which will house an auditorium, lodging facilities for the faculty and students along with a dining hall and kitchen. This building is named Vidyananda, after the first pontiff of Sri Ramachandrapura Matha.

As the amount required for the project is estimated to be rupees one hundred thirty two crores, various options for fundraising are being worked out. With a view to reach out to philanthropic souls across Bharat and abroad, it is found convenient to make use of the technology by way of this campaign through crowdfunding.

The project aims to provide the essence of Bharatiya knowledge to all seekers of knowledge, irrespective of their caste, creed or gender. Only qualification required for entering into this temple of learning would be a thirst for knowledge. Contact has already been established with the best minds in various fields of learning who have expressed a keen interest in associating with this project. There will be many stalwarts who will join Vishnugupta Vishwa Vidyapeetha as its faculty and there will be many others who have evinced keen interest in associating with this Vishwa Vidyapeetha as guest faculty, both online and offline. Needless to say, to take advantage of the fountain of knowledge in the bosom of these great scholars, the Vishwa Vidyapeetha will have the facility of conducting classes through video conferencing or other distance learning technologies.

Dharmachakra Trust, the Trust which is undertaking this project, is the brainchild of Sri Ramachandrapura Matha and its present pontiff is Sri Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Mahaswamiji, reverentially referred to as ‘Sri Samsthana’ by devotees. SriMatha and SriSamsthana have just completed a successful and unique project by name ‘GouSwarga’ at Bhankuli near Siddapura, Uttara Kannada district, for housing a thousand cows in a free environment.

Project “Vishnugupta Vishwa Vidyapeetham” is conceived with a view to establish a unique state of the art Vidyapeetha on the lines of erstwhile Takshashila Vidyapeetha to protect and propagate all ancient heritage knowledge and art forms of Bharat. SriMatha has a committed army of disciples who have been instrumental in successful campaigns and mass awareness programs on Bharatiyata, Gou Mata, preservation of environment, rural upliftment etc.

Dharmachakra Trust is registered under Section 80G of Income Tax Act, 1969 and the donations made to it are eligible for the benefits under the said section.

As the Trust is taking up various activities related to education, animal welfare, women empowerment, healthcare and rural development, donations made to the Trust are eligible to be spent under Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme.

What is being built here is the nation itself; not just an educational institution! Objective here is not to bring a person or an organisation to light; illuminating the minds of thousands and thousands of Bharatiya by providing the luminous current of knowledge, and illuminating the nation through them and thereby providing light to the whole universe is the guiding principle!

For that very reason, it is not the duty of only me; not the duty of only you; it is the duty of you and me! Duty towards our nation! Duty towards God! Duty towards uplifting the living world!

Oh, fellow countrymen who raise your head proudly and proclaim Bharata is my country, this is God’s call for you! Country’s call! Call of our ancestors! Call of your very soul! Let’s preserve and protect the remaining vidyas, let’s promote them, let’s preserve and put to practice the light given by God to the living world.
