TO FUEL INCLUSIVE SPORT IN 2018 AND HELP ABBF GROW

At Adventures Beyond Barriers, we promote inclusion by enabling Persons with Disability and able bodied people to participate in Adventure Sports together.

In the one and a half years since its establishment, ABBF has doggedly committed to the project of inclusivity, using accessible adventure sports as a platform to break through the misconceptions associated with disability.

Believing in sport as a universal leveller, ABBF focuses on building relationships and facilitates experiences independent of (dis)ability, all the way challenging assumptions surrounding questions of disability. The team’s bottom line is simple – the core of adventure lies in personal growth, challenging our own believes and pushing our boundaries!

Paragliding, marathons, trekking, scuba diving and mountaineering – ABBF has done it all! ABBF sportspeople have, amongst other things, collected an impressive string of numbers in their wake - participated in dozens of marathons across the country, gone on several inclusive treks as well as reached out to over 3500 people with disabilities and 1.5 lakh people from the mainstream community.

At ABBF, we are always figuring out new ways to make a change, spread the power of play, and promote empathetic conversations. We work in different adventure sports for people with and without disability, and are looking to make 2018 our biggest year yet! To help us make this possible, we need your help.

Each of you who help fuel our 2018 get an ABBF calendar, the first of its kind, complete with the best moments from our adventures! Large donations/wishlists for multiple calendars are also welcome.

At the very heart of ABBF is the desire to spread the spirit of empathy, proving that worldviews that see disability as stigma are antiquated, misplaced and belong decidedly in the past. It is the ethos of Nelson Mandela’s words that drives ABBF’s activities, when he said “sport has the power to change the world…It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair.”
